****************************************************************** The Government of Jharkhand and Tata Steel Ltd have signed a historic investment agreement during the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, marking a major step towards sustainable industrial growth. Under this Letter of Intent (LoI) and cooperation agreement, Tata Steel will invest over ₹11,000 crore in green steel technologies that aim to significantly reduce carbon emissions and promote eco friendly steel production. This strategic investment will bring advanced technologies like HISARNA and EASyMelt to Jharkhand. HISARNA enables the use of indigenous coal and low grade iron ore, lowering dependence on imports while cutting CO₂ emissions by up to 80% with carbon capture integration. EASyMelt will modernize traditional blast furnace methods, reducing coke usage and lowering emissions by up to 50%. In addition to green steelmaking, the agreement includes the development of a state of the art Combi Mill and tinplate expansion project, strengthening the state’s industrial infrastructure. The investment is expected to create direct and indirect employment, boost skill development, and support inclusive economic growth in Jharkhand.
