Khelo India Winter Games 2026 Opening in Leh, Ladakh | Drishti BPSC & JPSC

****************************************************************** The 6th edition of the Khelo India Winter Games 2026 was launched with a grand and colourful opening ceremony at the NDS Stadium in Leh, Ladakh, bringing together athletes from across India in a celebration of winter sports and culture. The event was inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, in the presence of dignitaries, athletes, officials, and enthusiastic spectators as part of a larger effort to promote winter sporting culture in the country. The ceremony featured local cultural performances, traditional music, and a showcase of Ladakh’s rich heritage, alongside ice sports competitions such as ice hockey and skating. Figure skating has been introduced for the first time this year, adding an exciting new dimension to the games. Over 1000 athletes, coaches, and technical officials are participating, representing 21 States and Union Territories in events that will continue through late January.
