Today we have Arriva London's DW487, a Wood Green (WN) based Wright Gemini 2 bodied VDL DB300 being absolutely pelted on the PL-1 Rail Replacement. Straight after coming out of the garage we realised this DW was far quicker than the rest, claimed even quicker than a good Euro 4 DW from Barking (DX). Despite having a loud boost leak on it echoing on literally any object or vehicle passing on the right, I was more than satisfied with its performance... every now and then it would rev higher than normal flat-out and at some point later in the video there was one near-redline! With a menacing driver at the wheel, this bus is put to the test, featuring MANY kickdowns in all gears, downshifts, swinging between backroads and more! For those who don't already know, these use the same Cummins engine as an Enviro 400 as well as a similar Voith DIWA.5 series gearbox so I'm here to let you know quite literally this is what Euro 5+ Voith Enviro 400s could have been had they not been so restricted! May I add this isn't the most what DB300s can do, take it back 10 years you'll know how monstrous these DWs were! If you like a good DW / DB300 this should entertain you!
