Here’s one for those who have always wondered what actually happens during the sound checks of STOOR Live events. This is the first record in a new series called STOOR Soundchecks. This vinyl contains four tracks taken from recordings on my portable recorder, capturing fragments from my personal live setup during sound checks. I have a habit of always pressing record while I set up my station, making sure everything works and making last-minute changes to my patches. Sometimes those unintentional moments sound better than music that had much more effort put into it. When I rediscovered them on my recorder, I found some of them quite usable for DJ sets, and I’ve been playing them for a while now. So if you’ve ever wondered what’s happening in my headphones while I’m testing the setup, this is basically it. Patterns being programmed, effects being dialled in, functional stuff with no intention other than making some noise. For those who want to get even closer, the ultra-limited package includes two wristbands, giving access to the STOOR Live sound check at Paradiso during Amsterdam Dance Event.
