Hey everyone, this is a quick tutorial on how to use the LAN feature in Halo: MCC on Xbox One. In this video, I will show you the easiest and best way to connect Xboxes together so that you can play LAN games on Xbox One. Please note that this tutorial is made specifically for Halo MCC on Xbox, and doesn’t necessarily apply to other games. I have tested this configuration to work as of June 2020, and the only networking equipment you need for this tutorial is a wireless router. Preferred method: Connect all Xboxes to a wireless router that has internet. Alternate method: Connect all Xboxes to a wireless router that does not have internet (nothing plugged in to the WAN port.) Not recommended method: Connect two consoles directly with an ethernet cord, or connect more than 2 consoles directly using an Ethernet switch. This is not recommended because the IP addresses will need to be manually assigned. Things to watch out for when using the alternate method: 1. Make sure all installations of Halo: MCC are updated. Different builds/versions will likely not be able to join the same LAN games together. 2. Make sure that people who own Halo: MCC digitally are using their home Xbox, so the game can launch while the consoles are offline. If someone owns Halo: MCC digitally, but is using an Xbox other than their home Xbox, the game requires internet connectivity when it is first launching. Common error messages: Error: "For this game, you need to be online" 0x803f9008 Fix: Either connect to the internet, or mark the console as your home Xbox (will require internet connection to manage home Xbox) or insert a disc for that game. Error: "Can't connect with a static IP address" Fix: Press B to dismiss the error and continue on your way! Example settings for the static IP method (not recommended): IPv4 Address: 111.111.111.111 Subnet Mask: 255.0.0.0 Default Gateway: 1.1.1.1 Primary DNS: Not used - skip with the menu button Secondary DNS: Not used - skip with the menu button My previous video from August 2018 that focused on directly connecting two consoles with Ethernet: Halo MCC "System Link" LAN tutorial (Direct connect two consoles with ethernet) • Halo MCC "System Link" LAN tutorial (Direc...
