*2020 UPDATE* NEW VIDEO HERE: • Halo MCC "System Link" LAN Network Tutoria... This is just a quick guide for how to configure the network settings if you are trying to directly connect two Xbox One consoles to use the new LAN feature that was recently added to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. If you have just connected two Xbox One consoles together and tried to play a LAN game, you may be able to see the other console's game, but you receive this error message: "Connection Failed - Your connection to the game session has failed, please try again." This happens because when you directly connect two Xbox One consoles with an ethernet cable, the two consoles are the only things on the network. Which means that there is not a DHCP server to assign IP addresses to the consoles. 343 Industries has stated that the Master Chief collection requires all Xbox One consoles to have IP addresses. So in order to fix this, we need to manually assign each of the Xbox One consoles an IP address. Here are the settings for both of the consoles: First Xbox One: IPv4 Address: 111.111.111.111 Subnet Mask: 255.0.0.0 Default Gateway: 1.1.1.1 Primary DNS: Not used - skip with the menu button Secondary DNS: Not used - skip with the menu button Second Xbox One: IPv4 Address: 111.111.111.112 Subnet Mask: 255.0.0.0 Default Gateway: 1.1.1.1 Primary DNS: Not used - skip with the menu button Secondary DNS: Not used - skip with the menu button If you have a network switch and are connecting more than two Xbox One consoles, and using manual IP addresses using the method in the video, you can change the last octet to .113, .114, .115, etc. to give each console on the network a unique IP address. Remember that after you are done playing LAN and go back to your regular network, you will want to set the IPv4 and DNS settings to "Automatic" to so that your Xbox One can connect to the internet. Thanks!
