Dodging Storms (Mostly) - A Wet & Windy Week | Winter Van Life Chronicles | 5 |

This week we spent the entire week dodging storms and trying to find some respite from the seemingly endless torrent of wind and rain brought on by Storm Malik & Storm Corrie. The lack of snow early in the week meant we had to adapt our plans for winter van life and instead turned our attention to bouldering. The forecast was questionable (as usual we suspect!) as we spent the day waiting around Ruthven boulder for the rain to stop before later driving up to Inverness and the Moray coast. A visit to Elgin later we decided to go out to the beach and have a look along the coast to see if the rocks were dry but, somewhat unsuprisingly, they were sodden and we drove back to the Cairngorm ski centre where we came from. As it turns out, bouldering in storm force winds and rain ins't much fun! Who Knew? A days break in the weather let us go for a walk along the valley to visit the green lochan and a mountain Bothy. The bothy was small but would definitely provide comfort if we were to ever be stranded on the mountain! Thankfully later in the week brought a light dusting of snow which meant we could go for a snowy walk in the Cairngorms and get some more mountaineering in. We found enough snow to break out our second ice axes for the first time too! ––––––––– About Us ––––––––––– We're Alex & Ayesha (AKA MountainAdvantures) and together we've built an off grid camper van to tour Europe and maybe further afield! With little DIY experience we managed to convert our trusty van "Wilson" into our own little tiny home on wheels ready for a van life journey. The build is over but the vanlife adventures are just beginning as we head to some remote, snowy areas throughout the UK and Europe. We enjoy skiing, ice climbing, mountaineering, rock climbing and walking to name a few so there are plenty of adventures on the horizon.
