This siren is the Williston Park Fire Department's Headquarters Siren. It is sounded every Wednesday at 6 PM, and for all fire calls 24/7. This siren is located atop the Williston Park Fire Department in Williston Park, NY on Willis Avenue. Every year Nassau County, NY sounds off the fire department audibles in honor of Memorial Day at 12 & 6 PM. Last year I wasn't able to go anywhere but this year I decided to take this opportunity to hear this loud SD-10 close up. I initially thought it was going to do the full cycle, which is 4 25 on 25 off cycles, but it just did the 6pm cycle instead. In the distance, you can hear East Williston's DSA, Model 7T & Model 2 as well as Mineola's 1003 which both sounded in full cycle. The tones you hear is Mineola toning out the thunderbolt. I placed audio recorders around the other sirens in the village, as well as in between 2 sirens for a distance recording. However, Memorial Day is a day in mourning for the soldiers and military personnel we have lost throughout the years. The sirens in Nassau County sounded for a 50 second "Moment of Silence" to honor the brave, fallen men & women around the United States. May God Bless America.
