Do you know the place that defended Vancouver of an attack, during WW2? The Point Grey Battery is considered a historic site and part of the University Endowment Lands. While the battery itself is no longer active, remnants of the site may still be visible, such as gun emplacements or concrete structures. If you venture down the trail, to the beach, you will find two towers, that contained lights, that illuminated the ocean, to help spotters find any potential enemy vessels. The remarkable thing about the towers was, that they were remotely controlled, in the 1940's! The Point Grey Battery serves as a reminder of Canada's coastal defense efforts during World War II and provides historical insight into the country's military history.
