Jesus warned his own twelve disciples to beware of false prophets. These men were taught by Jesus himself (and no one else) and he warns his own disciples that they must be be carefully on guard for false teachings. Carefully consider that fact. How much more then do we ourselves need to be on guard today? One of those twelve, Peter, warned how people with corrupt hearts misconstrue and ultimately mangle Paul's message in his letters. Peter refers to Paul as "our beloved brother Paul" and Paul's wisdom as the wisdom which was GIVEN to him. Peter does not disagree with Paul but endorses him. False prophets generally do not set out with a plan/plot to deceive people. They deceive others simply because they have first deceived themselves into adopting false beliefs, and having first deceived themselves, they then feel justified in spreading those same teachings to others. And when others accept their false teachings, they feel even more justified because they have convinced others to agree with them. And their disciples end up with this same conspiring heart behavior and then do the very same thing and fall headlong into the same error and destruction. Be on your guard. The devil doesn't make his deceptions obvious for you to identify. He is a master of deception. YOU may need to unmangle Paul and his letters and the wicked teachings of men which you have adopted. Peter cautioned us to be extremely careful with Paul's letters. We would all be complete fools to just assume we have read Paul's letters and not made at least some of the errors Peter has in mind. The only way we can ensure that we do not fall into the same kind of error is to be sober minded, humble, and extremely cautious.
