More difficult maths-based College Entrance Exams, as well as specialised math-based High School exams, frequently ask questions regarding the focal chord of a parabola (ie any chord which passes through the focus of the parabola). Knowing the coordinates of one end of the chord, we can very quickly find the coordinates of the other end using parametric equations, as we show in this video. As a bonus, at 5:50 we find the equation for the length of the focal chord, the formula for which simplifies nicely, and which again is well worth knowing as an exam time saver.
