Start your day with this gentle 20 minute morning yoga designed to release tension in your neck, shoulders, hips and hamstrings. This slow and mindful practice is perfect if you wake up feeling stiff tight or tense and want to ease into the day with calm energy instead of rushing. We begin seated with simple breathing and a short centering so you can arrive in your body and in the present moment. From there you move into soft neck and shoulder stretches chest opening and side bends to release the upper body. Gentle spinal circles help to mobilise the spine before you transition onto hands and knees to warm up the wrists and slowly find your first downward facing dog. Next you move through low lunge variations on both sides to open the hip flexors and hamstrings including a hamstring stretch a twist and a lizard pose option. A quad stretch in low lunge offers a deeper release for the front of the thighs. After returning to the mat you explore seated spinal twists to lengthen and rinse out the spine followed by butterfly pose to open the hips and inner thighs with a calming forward fold. This class is suitable for all levels including beginners as long as you move slowly and listen to your body. It works well as a gentle morning yoga routine a pre work stretch or an easy evening wind down. You can always use blocks cushions or books under your hands or hips for more support and comfort.
