Conductor - Anna Edwards May 13, 2025 Joe Hisaishi, the main composer for all the Studio Ghibli music, wrote the music with the inspiration of Western Classical Music and Japanese Musical Traditions, as well as Japanese Folk music. Throughout the music, you can find multiple motifs that when combined come together to make one motif that forms into a song called “Always With Me”. This style of writing is one that Joe Hisaishi tends to do a lot in many of his compositions, making it his signature style almost. The motifs coming together really brings out the message of human connection, showing that a person can do a lot alone, but only together can you truly get the whole picture and meaning. From fast passages from the strings, exciting exclamations from the percussion, to powerful messages delivered by the winds, Hisaishi truly takes one through various emotions and feelings as if they were watching the movie with their ears. Hisaishi truly is a wonderful composer and has gifted the world with incredible, and musically challenging, pieces that truly can not be described as anything less than beautiful. He hides messages within his music that only are shown when the pieces are laid together and connected in perfect harmony. Spirited Aways is a tale of friendship, connection, community, and family.
