Walk Vienna’s U6 line: trains, towers & a riverside escape in 25 relaxing minutes. 👉 Want to see more Vienna Walking Videos? If so, click here • Explore Vienna in 4K - All Videos We’re heading out for a relaxed walk along one of Vienna’s elevated metro lines — starting at Neue Donau, a station with some seriously nice views over the Danube. It’s early, the light is soft, and the city’s starting to stir. Pretty quickly, you’ll spot the Millennium Tower and the Danube Tower (Donauturm) across the water. Two of Vienna’s tallest landmarks in one frame — not a bad start. Right at the station, there’s a message that reads “Wir stehen zusammen für Graz”, a quiet but powerful tribute to the victims of the tragic Graz attack. A moment of reflection in the middle of the daily commute. The station itself has been around since 1996, built as part of the expansion of the U6 line. We watch a few trains roll by before crossing the bridge over the New Danube — a man-made channel built for flood protection but now also a local hotspot for outdoor activities. As we reach Donauinsel (the long island between the two rivers), it starts to feel like a different side of the city — greener, quieter, more relaxed. You’ll even catch a bit of the setup for Donauinselfest, Vienna’s biggest summer festival (and actually the biggest free music festival in Europe). Along the way there’s a quirky art piece called “Friedensrätsel”, a few boats passing on the river, and a reminder that Vienna really does bike/pedestrian paths right — left side bikes, right side walkers. Swans are chilling by the shore, the city’s skyline peeks through the trees, and eventually, we end up at Handelskai, one of the major transfer points near the Danube. No voiceover, no music — just the natural sounds of Vienna in late fall. A peaceful, uncut walk if you want to explore the city from home or just unwind a little. 📅 When: June 11, 2025 – Around 8:30 AM 🌤️ Weather: Clear skies, mild summer morning (~21°C / 70°F) 📍 Start: U6 Station Neue Donau, Vienna https://maps.app.goo.gl/xQSMjYBMu9yDL... 📍 End: U6 Station Handelskai https://maps.app.goo.gl/UJmUTntvpNJdV...
