Some concepts about setting your embouchure every day. Everyone is different so I would suggest experimenting with minute adjustments while adhering to some common accepted "truths" (at least for the most part). 1. Try to play close to the center, but, experiment with moving slightly left or right. Make a note of how it sounds and/or feels. 2. Try to not place the mouthpiece so low that the rim sits mostly on the "red" part of the lip. 3. Experiment with playing with a closed aperture and a slightly more open one. Which seems to work best? 4. Try to not puff out your cheeks or get air pockets in either the top or bottom lip. 5. Try to not use "excessive" arm pressure to push the horn into your face to produce a sound. 5. Try to relax your shoulders, neck and upper body. 6. Always pay attention to how it feels and more importantly, how it sounds. 7. Try rolling in your lips, now try less, and less, and less. How does that feel/sound? 8. Now try puckering. How does that feel/sound? 9. Don't forget to take a comfortable breath but don't play too loud. 10. Take some lessons if possible 11. Everyone is different so experiment!
