Summary: First and foremost, thank you to the fish shops for allowing us to weigh our fish during the May Shootout. It’s amazing of you guys HiFishGear and @roysfishingsupply to take the time out of your day to accommodate us with your certified scales. @HiFishGear This was one of those slow days that ended up being pretty amazing with enough patience on the water. Double shibi came up this day just in time to quell my worries about not putting up enough work to the Oahu team in the yellow fin tuna department. The pair were 37.8lbs and 43.4lbs. Oahu vs. Maui May Shootout Week 2 Update! Oahu takes the lead in both categories with Elliott, Lawrence, and Devan (2) all bringing up shibis during the second weekend. Oahu now has a total weight of shibis of 120.8lbs (Devan 43.4, Elliott 38.8, Devan 38.6) and mahis of 52.5. Maui has total weight of shibis at 75.9 and mahis of 0.0. The month is not even halfway done so there is lots of fishing to be completed in the shootout. Maui can always come on strong!
