HPD to Observe National Police Week The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) will commemorate National Police Week 2019 with events scheduled throughout next week beginning on Monday, May 13, 2019. Police Week is observed across the nation as a time to honor and remember law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty and those who continue to protect and serve our community. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating the week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week. Monday, May 13 Mayor’s Proclamation Ceremony Kahala Mall Center Court, 11 a.m. The Honorable Kirk Caldwell will proclaim May 12 to 18, 2019, as Police Week in the City & County of Honolulu. The public is invited to attend. Remembrance Walk and Memorial Service for Fallen Officers Sister Roberta Derby Park, 6 p.m. Hawaii State Capitol Rotunda, 6:30 p.m. A remembrance walk will begin at the HPD’s Alapai headquarters and proceed to the State Capitol where a memorial service to honor Honolulu police officers killed in the line of duty will be held. The fallen officers’ names are listed on the HPD's Roll of Honor at: www.honolulupd.org. The candlelight vigil and memorial service will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Rotunda. The public is invited to attend.
