Join Imagine Science Films for #fieldworkworldcup Hangouts On Air! In this series, we will be exploring the science of the soccer. From the physiology of the players to the psychology of the fans, we aim to highlight the science that makes the World Cup possible. TEMPLE HANGOUT ON AIR In anticipation of the World Cup, Temple will explore the science and cultural heritage of stadiums: though products of cutting edge architecture and engineering technology, stadiums are places where emotions and memories are shared; where communities from around the world gather to praise something bigger than themselves. This HOA will examine the dichotomy between the technologies and cultural implications of World Cup stadiums across Brazil. A good example of this would be the masterplan for the Emirates Stadium, which pulled together the requirements of Arsenal Football Club with the social infrastructure and housing requirements of the local council to create a cohesive urban development. Lee sits on Populous' European Board and on the practices Global Strategic Committee. He is a regular lecturer at the New York University Graduate School and guest critic at the Bartlett school of Architecture in London and the Columbia Graduate School of Architecture in New York. Lee has been involved in drafting design and technical guides for FIFA, MLS and the UK's Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (The Green Guide), as well as being a regular contributor to Building Design Magazine in London. Lee is a frequent speaker at conferences around the world on the architecture of sports and entertainment buildings and their role in our cities and popular culture.
