(6 Mar 2018) RICHARD LAWSON ON HIS DAUGHTER, ACTRESS BIANCA LAWSON: 'SHE'S A CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONAL' Veteran actor Richard Lawson says he didn't take his daughter's requests to follow in his footsteps too seriously when she began asking at just six-years-old. "At six, seven and eight (she wanted to act). She came to me at six, she says, 'Daddy, I want to be an actor.' And I said, 'OK baby, alright. OK.' 'OK?' 'Yeah.' And I just let it … And she continually, until the age of nine she'd stop me, she sat down in front of me and looked me straight in my eyes and said, 'I'm serious. I want to be an actor!' And I said 'OK.'" he recalled. Lawson's daughter, Bianca Lawson, has had a steady stream of television roles in shows like "The Vampire Dairies," ''Teen Wolf" and "Pretty Little Liars." Most recently, she can be seen in the OWN family drama "Queen Sugar." Lawson said he began laying the groundwork about professionalism early on. "Well the first conversation is about being a professional and we had this conversation and the rules of the conversation was: Whoever was speaking, the other person would listen and when they finish, you acknowledge what you heard and then you have your piece. I will acknowledge what I heard and we go back-and-forth like that. And we've had that conversation like that ever since," said Lawson. Bianca's mother Denise Gordy is also an actress and her stepmother is Tina Knowles - making Beyonce and Solange Knowles her step-sisters. "She became a professional at nine, she was serious," said the proud father. "And she's been the consummate professional. And she's only 38. So that means 29 years she's been (working). So she's probably worked more on most sets than anybody else, even people who are older folk." Richard Lawson stars in BET's new legal drama "In Contempt," which is set to premiere in the U.S. on April 10.
