Our Adventure to Khun Yuam Heading West This time, we are off on an exciting trip to the Khun Yuam district in Mae Hong Son Province! Our friend Naree is visiting us from Isaan, and are all set to drive to a little temple in Khun Yom, located in Ban Huai Khi Poe, for a special event called Kathin. Joining us on this adventure in a second car, is another couple from Chiang Mai, friends of Naree. On the Road We hit the road on Saturday around 11:00 AM. Our journey takes us along the middle ring road, headed towards Hang Dong. Then, we turn onto Canal Road, making our way to Chom Tom and Doi Inthanon. As we climb up Doi Inthanon, we take a left turn after the second gate, towards Mae Chaem, which is also where we stop for lunch. Lunch Break Mae Chaem is about halfway to our destination, and it's a great spot to take a break and grab a bite to eat. After filling our tummies, we continue on a very twisty road that leads us to the village temple of Ban Huai Khi Poe. We arrive there around 4:00 PM. Exploring the Temple Once we have arrived at the temple, we take some time to look around and check out the facilities. It's a peaceful place, and we enjoy exploring it. After our visit, we hop back in the car and head to Khun Yuam for dinner and a place to stay for the night. Getting Ready for Kathin The next morning, we return to the village for the Kathin celebration. It's going to be a fun day filled with activities and traditions!
