A quick drone video filmed around just a few of the many notable attractions in Paarl, a beautiful town in the Boland region of the Western Cape of South Africa, about 60km from the Cape Town city centre. In Part-1 the massive granite dome is visible up close, as well as some vineyards, and I believe a small grove of olive trees. Panning 360 degrees with the drone, one can see the berg river valley and the majestic mountains that surrounds the town. And in the distance one can just make out the Afrikaans Taal Monument (Afrikaans Language Monument), which I showcase in the Part-2 video. The first settlers moved into the valley in 1657 and called it Paarl (Dutch for pearl) due to the massive granite dome mountain, which shined like a pearl after a rain storm. In 1687 the French Huguenots arrived and established farms and vineyards. Paarl is to this day well known for its excellent wine making, Brandy production and fruit farming. In 1761 Paarl officially becomes a town. Current estimated population is about 294,457 inhabitants and growing exponentially.
