In this first part of my two-part series, I walk through the initial setup of the WarDragon Pro platform, explaining how to configure it for out-of-the-box drone detection and feed that information offline into Tar1090. This approach lets me visualize both drone and ADS-B data side by side for a complete airspace picture. The WarDragon Pro is built to function as a dedicated sensor, using every available method to detect various drone technologies. Along with identifying and displaying drones, it can also pinpoint the pilot’s location—all accessible through a user-friendly interface. In Part 2, I’ll showcase a custom iOS app, developed by an awesome contributor supporting the project, which can connect to the WarDragon Pro’s IP address (as long as it’s on the same network) without any extra setup—mapping and displaying live data seamlessly. For those looking for more advanced configurations, I’ll also detail how to run an application on the WarDragon Pro that broadcasts multicast data in Cursor on Target (CoT) format across your network for ATAK, iTAK, or securely to a TAK server—enabling powerful, headless operation scenarios. The custom iOS can also be configured to listen for multicast as well. And lastly, even though the WarDragon Pro focuses on sensor integration, you can still run the AntSDR hardware as a normal SDR. By taking advantage of the open-source spectrum tools included in DragonOS, you can monitor, scan, and experiment with a broad range of RF signals. Stay tuned for Part 2! Additional Notes I failed to screen record, so if you can’t see it in the zoomed-in video, the flightview_gui is located at /usr/src/flightview_gui. You can start it with: sudo python3 flightview_gui.py (Note that this requires a graphical display.) Alternatively, you can install openssh-server, configure SSH, then manually edit the tar1090 Docker with your location and time zone changes, and bring up the Docker that way.
