Deacon Steve stepped into Peter’s shoes and put us right inside the final hours. Not from a safe distance, but from a prison cell, with execution tomorrow. And that is the point. When the end is close, you stop pretending. Peter walks us through the Passover, the blood of the lamb, and how all of it was pointing to Jesus, the Lamb of God, whose blood saves us from eternal death. Then comes the hard honesty: the disciples were dense, and Peter was the worst of them. He promised loyalty, swung the sword, ran when it got real, and then denied Jesus three times with a mouth full of fear. That is not just Peter’s story. That is ours. We mean well, but when pressure hits, we reach for control, we panic, and we cave. But the sermon does not leave us in the courtyard. Jesus gives His Supper. Body and blood, given and shed for the forgiveness of sins. Even Peter’s. Especially Peter’s. The look Jesus gives across that courtyard could have ended Peter, but the promise of Jesus carried him. Jesus died. Jesus rose. And Peter lives as an eyewitness, forgiven and sent, ready to die with hope because Christ has already won. That is the comfort here: your worst moment does not get the final word. Jesus does. . . . . . #FirstGoodShepherd #Sermon #Jesus #HolyCommunion #LordsSupper #Forgiveness #Cross #Resurrection #Peter #Gethsemane #Passover #KeepTheFaith #church #christian #lutheran #god #jesuschrist #faith #churchonline
