BASF Aroma Ingredients: Set-up of new production plants

BASF is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quality and innovative aroma ingredients for the flavor and fragrance industry with a diversified production footprint. Besides the construction of a new world-scale citral plant at BASF’s Verbund site in Zhanjiang, China, new menthol and linalool plants are currently built in Ludwigshafen, Germany. These plants are expected to come on stream from 2026 onwards. The investment is driven by a growing demand from the global flavor and fragrance market and BASF’s strong commitment to sustainability transformation. At the end of 2024, an important milestone was reached in Ludwigshafen: the delivery of one of our crucial rectification columns. Watch the video to learn more about the project and to see how complex the transportation across the site in Ludwigshafen was due to the immense size of the column.
