From Ngepi Camp along the bank of the Okavango River, it is a short distance to Botswana, where we made our way - via the village of Etsha - to Guma Lagoon Camp on the Okavango Delta. We spend 2 nights in tented camp. The next morning we went on Mokoros, powered by local polers, to see the flora and fauna of the Okavango up close. In the afternoon, an optional helicopter ride, which most took up, to view the Okavango from another angle. The day was not over as there was a sunset cruise in the lagoon. Following day we drove to Maun, and stayed at the Drifters tented camp by the Boteti River. In the morning, a guide took us to the nearby village of Chanoga to gain insights into village life. We then drove on to Elephant Sands, with accommodation centred around a watering hole frequented by elephants. The last leg of our journey in Botswana took us to Kasane where we boarded a boat to cruise along the Chobe River and into Chobe National Park. It was then a short drive to the border with Zimbabwe and on to Victoria Falls where we would stay the next 2 nights. Our guides from the NE South Africa region were Bheki and Duncan. We travelled in a purpose-built Hino truck by the operator, Drifters, though participants booked the trip through different agents.
