Early winter we celebrated Maori's New Year, Matariki . Matariki, the Māori New Year, is a significant cultural event in New Zealand. It marks the rising of the Matariki star cluster (also known as the Pleiades) in midwinter, which signals the start of the new year for many Māori. It is celebrated by doing a traditional Haka Dance, traditional meal like Hangi are shared amongst family and friends. During Matariki, Haka performances are often included in various events and gatherings, resonating with ancestral voices and invoking a sense of unity and pride. Haka is an integral part of Matariki celebrations. It holds deep cultural significance for Māori, serving as a powerful way to connect with ancestors, celebrate new beginnings, and express cultural identity. I also made some traditional Nepalese fermented pickle " Mula ko acchar and fermented spinach called " Gundruk" .
