Location: Palmer, MA (locations listed with the trains) Resolution: 4k with 30 FPS (iPhone 14 Pro Max) [details of the 2 trains are below my description] These were the last two trains we caught in Palmer that day. The first was New England Central's 611 Brattleboro, VT to Palmer, MA turn job, on its way north back to VT. I had never caught that train anywhere (north or south) even though I had tried to catch it two or three times in the past. I had always somehow escaped me. On this day, we heard some scanner chatter indicating they were building their train. So we decided to leave the Tender and head further north so that we could intercept it. I had never watched trains in Palmer anywhere but the Tender, so I didn't know where to go. So we followed the tracks and caught sight of the train moving slowly in or near North Yard. So we raced ahead until we got to the Main St. crossing. Tom recognized the location from a prior visit with friends (who were either driving or navigating that time). It turned out to be a pretty good location. The train passed us upwards of ten minutes after we passed it. It was a nice curve and a solid train; I loved the matched set of four sister C40-8W engines. And I was just happy to have finally seen NECR 611! Once that was done, we decided to head back to the Steaming Tender to see if we could one more train before we had to head home. I can't recall if we knew that M427 was on its way, or we just got lucky. At any rate, it passed us heading west only a half hour after we saw 611 on the other side of town. There was nothing particularly exciting about this particular M427, but it's always a nice train to see. It had its typical westbound consist, with some of its standard loads: a number of boxcars (many loaded with paper products, I believe), empty LPG tankers, a bunch of C&D (construction & demolition) and trash gondolas, a number of empty lumber cars, a cut of cement hoppers, and even a set of reefers. I still have a number of videos to publish from that day, including some shots of NECR 3015, the GP40CU in the excellent Honoring Veterans and Service Members livery. I had never seen it before that day. Enjoy! Please like my videos and comment on them as appropriate, as I believe that will help increase the promotion of the videos on my channel (like YT actually sending notifications of my new videos out to my subscribers!).
