Love Data Week Panel: “The URSA Initiative: Navigating EHR Data Sharing and Access in Rhode Island”

On February 11th, 2025, Drs. Elizabeth Chen and Karen Crowley presented on “The URSA Initiative: Navigating EHR Data Sharing and Access in Rhode Island” together with colleagues in Brown’s Division of Research (Human Research Protection Program, Regulatory Advising, and Research Agreements and Contracting), Office of Information Technology, and University Library. This panel presentation provided an overview of the underlying data governance and cyberinfrastructure for the URSA Initiative. Resources and services at Brown for ensuring appropriate management and sharing of health data were then described, from executing Data Use Agreements (DUA), fulfilling IRB requirements, and providing regulatory advice to working in secure computing environments to addressing National Institutes of Health (NIH) data sharing policies.
