Product Review - Walabot DIY2 - See What's Inside Your Walls - Or Not!

I received a Walabot DIY2 for Christmas. I had high expectations for this gadget having watched several independent review videos on it. I was sadly disappointed with it's lack of accuracy and complete inability to read anything but studs in several of my walls, including a demo wall. In addition to this video demonstration I also spent over 2 hours on a bathroom wall in our basement where one side of the wall is still opened and the other side in the bathroom is finished. The Walabot DIY2 failed repeatedly to detect anything reliably except for studs. In that wall I have hot and cold pex lines for the sink as well as electrical cable and PVC plumbing and it really didn't detect ANY of those items reliably to where I'd feel comfortable trusting this device before starting any project. I did try to do a fair test/demo of the product and had high hopes especially after seeing 2 independent reviews (one of the old model and one of this model) and they both worked flawlessly. I contacted support and they offered a refund on the spot and also offered to let me have a call with support. I opted not to do the call with support as the earliest they had was over a week away and the return window would be closing soon. PLEASE NOTE: I tried on an actual wall for almost 3 hours with various calibrations, taking it off the wall, keeping it on the wall, etc. In all cases the device was horribly inaccurate. I have watched other reviews where it is more accurate and the reviewer has taken it off the wall after calibration and it’s seemed to work fine. In my case, perhaps I had a defective unit but support themselves reviewed a different video I did and agreed it was not working as designed.
