#37- wrote/sang/played …This is from my Bible study notes, 2 Timothy 1:9 Holy Calling (On the Edge) is a raw, wind-swept anthem of standing firm at life's precipice—dangling feet, inner emptiness, fear of rejection, yet stirred by God's unshakeable call. Perched on the cliff of doubt and hesitation ("Why this pull, a hesitation so deep? Fear of man, 'Don't speak, just keep.'"), the song echoes 2 Timothy 1:7—God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. The chorus declares boldly: Don't be ashamed! Don't be afraid! This mirrors 2 Timothy 1:8—do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord... but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God—and Romans 1:16—I am not ashamed of the gospel. The holy calling within you is not earned but gifted by grace (2 Timothy 1:9—who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace). Suffering comes—one more time—but it's the path of the God-pleaser, crowned in grace and pain. In the bridge, the call sharpens: On this cliff, avoid below, stir up the gift, faith grows. This directly recalls 2 Timothy 1:6—fan into flame / stir up the gift of God which is in you. The empty fills when lost, because the edge isn't ruin—it's where the calling rings clearest, summoning you (and me) to live unashamed for Him (1 Peter 4:16—if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but glorify God in that name).
