What followed was a fatal shooting that also claimed the life of her unborn child. Despite inconsistencies in Jha’kari’s account, forensic contradictions, prior domestic disturbance calls, and the children’s statements, prosecutors ultimately charged him with two counts of manslaughter rather than murder. Although bail was initially denied at arraignment, the system later reversed course and granted him release — a decision that raised serious questions about accountability and public safety.
