This practice increases the digestive, assimilative, and metabolic capacities of Samana Vayu. Samana vayu is the pranic force, or wind, that resides in the navel center. When this energy is strong, we are able to digest, more efficiently, physical, mental and emotional food and information. We are a culture of 'too much'; too much food, too much drink, too much information (news, social media, videos, etc), which leads to too much overwhelm, anxiety and stress.
