Hi guys, welcome back! In today's video, we will finally revisit the Kingdom of Rivanna! It's been over a year since I've built here, and I wanted to flesh this kingdom out a bit more. In this video, we will build the Medieval Alcazar, based on the Alcazaba of Málaga, and the Spanish inspired town of Alveramar. It started as a modest trading outpost and farming community, situated strategically along a river that provided access to the heartlands of Rivanna. The river also connected to the sea, allowing for trade with distant lands. As traders and travelers passed through, Alveramar grew into a bustling market town, its streets filled with the voices of many tongues and its markets rich with exotic goods. Alveramar was among the first to fall during the Sunlander invasions, its prosperity making it a prime target. For decades, it was a key stronghold for the Sunlander occupiers, who built formidable fortifications such as the Alcazar to assert their dominance. Under Sunlander rule, the city became a melting pot of cultures, where Rivannese and Sunlanders lived side by side, often uneasily. The occupiers imposed their laws and customs, but the resilient people of Alveramar held onto their traditions, blending them subtly with those of the Sunlanders. After years of resistance, the Kingdom of Rivanna reclaimed Alveramar in a series of strategic battles in a Reconquista. The scars of the conflict marked the city for years, with ruined buildings still serving as grim reminders of the past. But the people of Alveramar were determined to rebuild. The city’s rebirth was marked by the construction of the Grand Plaza and Cathedral, a symbol of freedom and unity, where festivals and gatherings are held to this day. At the heart of the city the renowned bull ring was also constructed, a symbol of the merging of Rivannese and Sunlander cultures which draws spectators from across the both the Midlands and Sunlands. Today, Alveramar is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city where the past and present coexist. The architecture of the city tells the story of its diverse heritage: vibrant Rivannese terracotta, ancient Sunlander stonework, and the elegant arches of both blend harmoniously. The markets of Alveramar are a kaleidoscope of cultures, where goods from across the known world are traded and the flavors of Rivannese and Sunlander cuisine meld into a unique culinary experience.
