Out of nowhere, Ohio State University President Ted Carter resigned last weekend at a private emergency Board of Trustees meeting. Someone told the board of an inappropriate relationship between Carter and a woman seeking to use public benefits for her personal business. Carter acknowledged the relationship and offered to resign. It appears the woman, Carter had a relationship hosted a veterans employment podcast called The Callout, where Ted Carter appeared frequently. The host, Krisanthe Vlachos, produced the podcast in WOSU’s studio as a paying private client. We’ll discuss the fallout from the resignation. Just days after the resignation, Ohio State instead of conducting a search named Executive Vice President and Provost Ravi Bellamkonda as its new permanent president. We’ll also take a look at U.S. Senate Jon Husted’s testimony in the FirstEnergy executive bribery trial. Husted talked about his time as lieutenant governor, the selection of Sam Randazzo of the chair of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and the nuclear bailout trial linked to FirstEnergy and former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder. This week also marked Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s last and low-key State of the State Address this week. The governor who will leave office at the end of the year due to term limits pushed for longer recess, the Imagination Library, the science of reading, a seat belt and banning AI generated child porn.
