The road junction being right next to the level crossing provides some extra interest in terms of available shots and level crossing set-up, and this side also has longer barriers. There used to be a signal box here, though this was declared out of use in 2013 when the line was re-signalled and control moved just over 70 miles away to Basingstoke, but it wasn't demolished until around two years later. In recent years, the alarm on the station's side of the road across it has significantly dropped its tone and sounds very different compared to before. Being such a busy road junction, it can be expected that some motorists may be a little impatient and over-willing to skip the waits here. Prime examples are seen in the third lowering here where one even goes to follow some others through but has to stop before risking being hit by a barrier! It certainly wasn't my intention to catch this, but serves a perfect example of what not to do! It doesn't help that the only way across this line in this little area, without taking fairly lengthy detours onto narrow country roads, is via a level crossing.
