In amateur wrestling and catch wrestling, it's called "head and arm control." In far too many BJJ gyms, it's called "that stupid headlock thing that only street fighters do because it sucks." They don't understand how to do it properly, so they don't use it. And that's what we get to use to our advantage. Used correctly, the kesa gatame position is one of the best control positions in grappling. It is a crushing pin, highly effective, and it opens up a wide range of unorthodox submissions to put you opponent away.
