⚠️ Quick heads up before the video starts. This was filmed in a workshop while putting an engine back together so there is some swearing throughout the video. It was also filmed on a weekend so there are kids in the background at times including my youngest Lennox who basically follows me everywhere and spends a lot of time at the workshop. In the previous episode we pulled the ZD30 out of the GU Patrol and discovered the real reason the engine stopped running. All four pistons were cracked which meant the motor had to be completely stripped down so we could diagnose the damage properly. In this video the engine finally goes back together. This is not a full performance engine build. This is more of a refresh build so the Patrol can get back on the road. The motor is being assembled again with new gaskets, seals and properly cleaned components after everything was inspected. The entire process of assembling the bare engine took about 1 hour and 15 minutes. This video is sped up, but you still see the full process of how the engine goes back together from the block to a complete bare motor. If you are thinking about attempting a ZD30 rebuild at home this video gives you a clear look at how the engine goes back together without having to watch the entire process in real time. Before we got to this point there was quite a bit of work involved including waiting on parts, cleaning everything properly, inspecting the head and components, and preparing all the parts before the engine could go back together. This episode focuses purely on the bare engine assembly. No accessories are being installed in this video. Things like the turbo, alternator, power steering pump, brackets and hoses will all go back on in the next episode before the engine is dropped back into the GU Patrol.
