NEW GU BUILD BEGINS! Today we finally pulled the ZD30 out of my 2002 GU Patrol… and the diagnosis was WAY worse than we expected. We were told the engine had a hole in the block, but after a full teardown, Zac from Big Dog Engines discovered all four pistons were cracked. No compression. No combustion. No chance. 💀 This video covers the full process of removing the ZD30 (auto), disconnecting all accessories, draining coolant (multiple times, apparently), fighting with nightmare bellhousing bolts, craning the engine out, and tearing it down to the bare block to find out exactly what failed. We also: • Pressure-washed the entire engine bay • Stripped every accessory off the engine • Fought a harmonic balancer that refused to leave • Craned the engine onto the teardown bench • Watched Zac go full mad-scientist pulling the head, injectors & manifolds • Found the REAL internal damage hiding inside the motor • Compared this block to the spare block for the new build This GU Patrol is about to get a whole new life, this is just the beginning of the rebuild series.
