Filmed for Nine News. -- Parramatta, NSW – March 28, 2025: A vehicle fire occurred this afternoon in the Mays Hill / Merrylands area of Parramatta. Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry confirmed that the incident was reported at 2:18 PM, with the fire located at the intersection of Burnett Street and Rees Street, near Mays Hill in the Parramatta area. “Upon arrival, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames and was completely destroyed,” Superintendent Dewberry said. Fire and Rescue NSW crews responded to multiple Triple Zero (000) calls from members of the public, who also reported heavy traffic disruptions in the vicinity. Police attended the scene to assist with traffic management while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. “Burnett Street was blocked for some time, and although the scene was cleared just after 3:00 PM, the incident caused ongoing traffic impacts,” Dewberry added. The vehicle was later removed by a tow truck to allow traffic to resume, but the cause of the fire remains undetermined. No injuries have been reported. “At this stage, we have no information on how the fire started. Fortunately, no one was hurt,” Superintendent Dewberry said. Reports suggest that the Mercedes was undertaking a test drive prior to the fire.
