In this episode I'm speaking to friend and collaborator Emel Mathlouthi about being a woman in the music industry, living in Cairo and her tour in Palestine. Emel Mathlouthi is a Tunisian-American artist and activist widely known as the voice of the Arab Spring for her anthem "Kelmti Horra", cementing her as one of the most powerful artistic voices of her generation. Blending electronic production with North African roots and cinematic scope, Emel has performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, toured internationally, and collaborated across genres and cultures. Her work frequently centers on freedom, resistance, and social justice, with recent focus on female empowerment, such as her 2025 album MRA, which is a fully female-produced project.
