I talk openly and honestly about how I cope with agoraphobia, why I created a YouTube channel and what my future plans are. I've been wanting to do this video for a while and finally found the courage and confidence to share my journey publically as I believe that building a community around trust and integrity is the right thing to do. Higgsybear Outdoors was created in 2022 from a need to help me gain confidence back after a couple of years of lockdowns and working from home. I found it very comfortable being on my own for most of the days during that time and was struggling to return to normalcy. The channel was a way to get outside again, which I have always loved and know that it helps with my mood, and to take me outside of my comfort zone. I was diagnosed with mild agoraphobia at the end of 2022 and was given cognitive behaviour therapy to help me control anxiety and my fear of not being able to escape from situations / not being in control of situations. I have bad days and good days but more of the latter now, which is great. My family are my rock, my tribe and keep me honest and true and I'd like to think that I reciprocate that as a good dad and husband. Therapy has helped me and after 12 weeks I have the tools to help myself and I will continue to provide content to this channel as a tool to keep motivating myself to try different things. If I can inspire or motivate people to get outside more or to find help with their mental health journey as well then I will be so happy. The plans for my channel are to keep providing both short and long-form content, that is centred around learning new skills, imparting knowledge and documenting my journey both from a solo and collaborative perspective. It was very hard recording this video and even as I type this I'm not sure if I should publish it for everyone to see... time will tell whether it was the right thing to do or not. Thank you for watching, listening, sharing, liking, commenting and subscribing. It really does mean the world to me. I am not eligible to monetise the channel at the minute but an international subscriber has asked to do a PayPal so if you would like to help towards the cost of the channel you can donate any amount via PayPay using my email address [email protected] or by clicking this link: paypal.me/higgsybearoutdoors Thank you, take care and I'll see you next time. #getoutside #mentalhealth #agoraphobia
