Crane Planner from Liebherr specialist 3D software for lift planning explained by expert Christoph

3D lift planning is the latest innovation from Liebherr with its online Crane Planner solution, designed to support better and safer crane and lifting movements. To find out more, Peter Haddock spoke to expert Christoph Mai at the recent Liebherr Group press conference. Christoph: “With our crane finder and crane planner solutions, we can help customers first understand the type of crane they will need to perform a lift and then how to plan lifting before it gets onto site. “To do this, we have created an online Crane Planner tool accessible through a customer’s MyLiebherr account that mirrors the operational capability of our crane range, as it uses the exact machine data of the load moment limitation. “This means that the data displayed in Crane Planner is determined by exactly the same calculation logic as the live data of the individual mobile or crawler cranes. “In addition, we have added other key information like ground bearing pressures, ground forces, loads and centres of gravity. This means that each new calculation is carried out with every change in configuration, load or geometry, helping to take all eventualities into account and to find solutions in advance. With this information in hand, the team onsite will already have a lot of the data they need to carry out a lifting operation in the best and safest possible way. “In designing Crane Planner as an online ‘in the cloud’ solution, we also have the ability to constantly update the information. We already have a roadmap for this that includes adding in new cranes and features like support for tandem lifting.
