Another "new" paint for NASCAR Thunder 2004. This is Mike Wallace's No. 09 Miccosukee Dodge that he attempted eight races in in 2003 for Phoenix Racing. I put "new" in quotes because the 09 was technically released earlier, except that it was just the 2004 version of the paint scheme - '04 Intrepid nose, Nextel contingency logos, and all. But, thanks to off-xero in AJ's Discord server, this paint has been updated to the 2003 template. Good stuff, man. This was not the only ride Mike Wallace ran in 2003 - he took over the MB2 No. 01 in the late spring/early summer after Jerry Nadeau's Richmond crash, although Wallace didn't do too well in the eight starts he made in that ride. Wallace's best finish of 2003 was a P9 in the season-opening Daytona 500, although it was not in this scheme. The scheme he ran in the 500 and the Aaron's 499 had a white base; the black base version most of us associate with the Phoenix Racing No. 09 didn't first appear until the Pepsi 400, with Buckshot Jones driving. As expected, Mike is on very good terms with his brothers Kenny and Rusty, and I was even able to work with both of them in this race. I tried to work with Rusty so I could make it a Wallace family 1-2 finish, but he just wouldn't play ball, so I had to abandon that idea. Jeff Green ruined a pretty good battle for the lead at 7:19 by spinning himself out. And then Steve Park went and ARCA-braked it into Jack Sprague. I was so close to making the pass on Jimmie, only for the caution to come out right before the start-finish line. I was able to get around him pretty easily in the 2-lap shootout that commenced on the restart, but I still would've preferred for the race to go green the entire way.
