We take a real-time walk through our backyard orchard and vineyard in the middle of a snow storm, checking for muscadine freeze damage and cold stress on fruit trees and vines. A rare snow storm hits our backyard orchard and vineyard, and we take you along in the middle of the storm for a real-time walkaround here at Dean Family Acres ❄️🌳🍇 We’re not used to this type of winter weather in the South, so we decided to walk the orchard while the snow is actively falling to check for freeze and cold damage—especially on our muscadine vines. Muscadines are usually resilient, but sudden snow and freezing temperatures can still cause stress and damage. In this mid-storm orchard and vineyard tour, we check on: • Muscadines and potential freeze damage • Figs and our protection for in-ground trees. • Blueberries during active snowfall • Plums, apples, peaches, and pears in winter conditions • American and Asian persimmons • Strawberries under snow cover • Pineapple guava (feijoa) exposure to freezing temps • Pomegranates during a snow event • Fuzzy kiwi vines handling winter weather If you’re growing fruit in Zone 8 or the Southeast, this video shows what a real backyard orchard looks like in the middle of a snow storm, not days after—giving an honest look at how different fruit trees and vines handle cold and freeze conditions. 👉 Comment below and tell us what you’re growing and if you’ve ever walked your orchard during a snow storm. 👉 Subscribe for more backyard orchard tours, vineyard updates, and real-world farm learning from Dean Family Acres 🌱 Deanfamilyacres.com Check us out on Facebook and Instagram! / deanfamilyacres / deanfamilyacres Thanks for any feedback and support Email us: deanfamilyacres@gmail.com Some music by @clintgroves8650 If you like it please head over to his channel and let him know! #snowstorm #backyardorchard #zone8gardening #deanfamilyacres
