Helen Raptis, longtime KATU personality, announces her retirement from AM Northwest!

Helen Raptis, host of AM Northwest and longtime KATU on-air personality, announced her retirement after nearly 29 years at the station. Helen joined KATU News in May of 1998 as AM Northwest’s “Roving Redhead,” reporting on the fun and quirky side of Portland. She also was the anchor for KATU’s early morning newscast for three years. Helen will be retiring from the station at the end of May. Raptis has received a Regional Emmy award and has several nominations for her work on AM Northwest. She was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences ‘Silver Circle’ in 2015, which honors people whose careers made an impact on the TV industry. As the host of AM Northwest, Helen became every viewer's best friend, sharing everything about her life, the joys, the losses and even her own battle against breast cancer. Helen is also a professional artist, and sales of her paintings help raise money for causes close to her heart.
