Smoky MLW S-13 Moving Freight on Quebec's Chemin de Fer Lanaudiere -1/7/25

On January 7, 2025, during a trip to Quebec, we made a visit to the Chemin de Fer Lanaudiere with info that they were utilizing their MLW S-13 as their primary power. Otherwise known as the Bell Gaz, this railroad hauls propane for their owner Bell Gaz company, connecting their facility at St. Felix de Valois with the Quebec Gatineau interchange at Joliette, QC, 8.6 miles to the south. Typically, this railroad operates with an RS18-3, however due to it being out of service at the moment apparently due to truck repair work, their backup S-13 has been pressed into regular service. We found them switching in the Bell Gaz facility around 10 a.m, leaving after about an hour of switching with four empty propane cars. Upon arrival at Joliette, they made a timely interchange with QGRY, before heading back north with two grain cars for Agri-Service DMR and 7 loaded propane cars. The little MLW put on quite a smokeshow for the entire duration of the day, not to mention it's angelic Nathan K3L tuned perfectly. I hope you enjoy this awesome chase of a classic MLW unit!
