Grumpy Diesel No. T478 - 1002 transported our group from Brno to Zastávka u Brna to visit the nearby industrial narrow gauge railway and museum. Two smartly turned out 600mm gauge steam locomotives simmered at the head of an eclectic rake of carriages waiting to take us along the 5 km narrow gauge line to the “The Museum of Industrial Railways” at Zbýšov. The route was originally laid as a standard gauge railway in 1862 to transport coal from the mines at Zbýšov to a junction with the national network at Zastávka u Brna. The museum houses a substantial collection of locomotives and rolling stock that once served industrial narrow gauge railways around the Czech Republic.
