I Found My $2,000 Masters of the Universe Grail! Join this channel to get access to perks: / @pixeldantoyhunts Today I’m at Zolocon, and this one is special for me because it’s my first ever solo convention appearance. I’m here as a guest, hanging out at my table doing the Pixel Dan thing, but whenever I get a break… it’s time to hit the show floor and do what we all love most. Vintage toy hunting. Zolocon is an incredible mix of modern indie toys, obscure collectibles, and vintage toy treasures, and I quickly realized this show was packed with some seriously wild finds. I ran into everything from weird rack toys and VHS tapes to rare action figures from lines like Masters of the Universe, Blackstar, Golden Girl, Air Raiders, Sectaurs, Captain Power, Warrior Beasts, and more. One of the coolest moments of the show was spotting something that has been on my holy grail list for years. A super rare Top Toys Masters of the Universe variant known as “Camo Khan.” This Argentine variant of Cobra Khan features Buzz-Off style claws and an entirely different camouflage paint deco. It’s one of the strangest and most fascinating MOTU variants ever produced… and it was sitting right there in the display case. The catch? The price tag was $2,100. Do I finally pull the trigger on my grail piece… or keep dreaming about it for another year? But that wasn’t the only amazing thing I found at the show. I also ran into some incredible oddities, including a bootleg Battle Cat from Mexico with some of the weirdest paint applications I’ve ever seen. You guys know I love collecting different Battle Cat variations, so I absolutely had to add that one to the collection. And then there was the find of the show… A Batman Returns Talking Gumball Bank from 1992 made by Gen-X — the same company that produced those bizarre Masters of the Universe talking toothbrushes. If you remember the Skeletor toothbrush I picked up recently, this thing fits perfectly into that strange category of vintage toys that make absolutely no sense but are completely amazing. This bank not only holds gumballs… it talks. Vintage toys like this are exactly why I love going to conventions like Zolocon. You never know what strange, nostalgic, or downright bizarre piece of toy history you’re going to run into. Between the grail hunts, the weird bootlegs, and some truly unexpected finds, this was an incredible weekend of toy collecting.
