DJI AIR3S FLIGHT AT THE BRIDGES OF BERWICK UPON TWEED. Berwick‑upon‑Tweed is defined by three iconic bridges spanning the River Tweed, each capturing a different era of engineering ambition. The Old Bridge, completed in 1624 under James VI & I, is a graceful 15‑arch sandstone structure that once carried the Great North Road. Its elegant curve and low arches make it one of Britain’s finest surviving Jacobean bridges. Upstream stands the Royal Border Bridge, a soaring 28‑arch railway viaduct opened in 1850 and championed by Robert Stephenson. Its sweeping stone arches, rising nearly 40 metres above the river, symbolised Victorian confidence and transformed rail travel between England and Scotland. The youngest crossing, the Royal Tweed Bridge (1928), introduced reinforced concrete to the town. Its bold, clean lines and wide span reflect early‑20th‑century modernism and served as the main road bridge for decades. Together, these three structures form a living timeline—Jacobean craftsmanship, Victorian grandeur, and modern engineering—framing one of the most dramatic riverfront skylines in the UK. music courtesy of simplyfreemp3music
