Mount Arafat (Jabal Arafat / Jabal al-Rahmah) Mount Arafat is a granite hill located about 20 km southeast of Makkah, rising 70 meters above the plain. It is also known as Jabal al-Rahmah (The Mount of Mercy). This sacred site holds immense significance in Islam because it is where the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ delivered his Farewell Sermon (Khutbat al-Wada‘) during his final Hajj. The plain of Arafat surrounding the hill is the focal point of the Day of Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah), the climax of Hajj. Pilgrims gather there in the millions to stand in worship and supplication from noon until sunset, an act known as Wuquf at Arafah, which is considered the pinnacle of the Hajj rituals. For those performing Umrah, visiting Mount Arafat is not a required ritual, but many choose to visit the site for its historical and spiritual importance. Location: 20 km southeast of Masjid al-Haram, accessible by car, bus, or organized tour. Key Spot: The white pillar marks the place where the Prophet ﷺ stood to deliver his sermon. Virtue: The Day of Arafah is among the holiest days in Islam; the Prophet ﷺ said: “Hajj is Arafah” (Tirmidhi), emphasizing its centrality to the pilgrimage. #UmrahVlog #UmrahJourney #UmrahGuide #Makkah #Madinah #MasjidAlHaram #MasjidAnNabawi #HaramainTrain #umrahtips #umrah2025
